Cross & Crown Church Penang is a Protestant Reformed Evangelical Church founded in 2019 and a member of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF). Our mission is to proclaim the gospel of grace, in Penang and among the nations, to the glory of God. God’s desire, and therefore the Church’s vision, is for the people of Penang and beyond to have, and to keep having, Jesus as Saviour and Lord. We profess the faith uniquely revealed in the Holy Scriptures and set forth in the historic creeds, which the Church is called upon to proclaim afresh in each generation. We are committed to the fundamental beliefs set forth in our Statement of Beliefs and organize our church life according to our Constitution, which may be found here.
Our diverse ministries cater to all ages, including men, women, young adults, and families with children. Further details may be found here. If you’re interested in learning more, don’t hesitate to reach out.
The Triune God: The unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead, three
persons, each fully, equally, eternally and distinctly God, yet of one essence.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 14; 10:30; 14:26–27; 2 Corinthians 13:14
The Bible: The full and final authority of the Bible as the divinely inspired, infallible and
inerrant Word of God, sufficient for all matters of faith and conduct (Sola Scriptura).
Psalm 19:7-8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
Humanity: Men and women are created in the image of God, equal in dignity and value, but
different in gender and role. Marriage is a voluntary and exclusive life-long union of one man
and one woman, modelled on and displaying the union of Christ and his church.
Genesis 1:26–27, 2:18; Psalm 8:4–6; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:22–33
Sin: The universal sinfulness and guilt of men and women since the fall corrupts every part of
human life and renders them subject to God's wrath and condemnation, totally unable to save
themselves from condemnation and the power of evil (Total Depravity).
Genesis 6:5; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1–3
Jesus Christ: As the incarnate Son of God, Jesus is fully God and fully man. He willingly obeys
his Father’s will and accomplishes the work given to him by the Father for his glory. His virgin
birth, sinless life, atoning and substitutionary death, bodily resurrection and glorious ascension
are the only means of redemption from sin’s guilt, penalty, and power.
Isaiah 53:5–6; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; John 5:17–19; Philippians 2:6–11;
Colossians 1:19–20; 1 Peter 2:24
Salvation: Salvation is by grace alone (Sola Gratia) through faith alone (Sola Fide) in Christ
alone (Solus Christus), the only mediator between God and people, with righteousness
imputed solely by grace through faith and not by human merit.
Acts 4:12; Romans 4:5; 5:1–2; Galatians 3:11; Ephesians 2:8–9; 1 Timothy 2:5; Titus 3:5
Regeneration: The indwelling work of the Spirit is necessary to make the death of Christ
effective in each individual sinner whom God has chosen (Unconditional Election) and ordained
Christ as their redeemer (Limited Atonement). The Spirit effectually calls them, granting
repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ (Irresistible Grace).

1:3–6; Philippians 1:29; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:1–2
Sanctification: The necessity of sanctification, which is a work of God's grace, through the
power of the Holy Spirit, to bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in believers. Those who have been
effectually called and sanctified by God's Spirit shall persevere to the end and receive eternal
salvation (Perseverance of the Saints).
Romans 8:13, 23; Galatians 5:22-23; Philippians 1:6; 1 Thessalonians 4:3–4; 2 Thessalonians
2:13; 1 Peter 1:2
The Priesthood of All Believers: All believers have direct access to God through Christ and are
called to serve one another in love.
Galatians 5:13–15; 1 Peter 2:9; Hebrews 4:14–16; 10:19–22; Revelation 1:6
The Church: There is one universal Church composed of all God’s redeemed people in every
time and place. The visible church is the gathering of God’s redeemed people under God’s
word. The true church is marked by her gospel message, the true preaching of the Word, the
proper administration of the Sacraments and the faithful exercise of church discipline. The local
church is led and governed by biblically qualified men whose responsibility is to oversee,
shepherd and guide God’s people through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. Women
are not to teach or exercise authority over men but are encouraged to seek proper expression
of their gifts as they work to build the church up in love.

bring the fullness of His kingdom.

As a Christian church, we also affirm the historic creeds of faith including the Nicene Creed and the Apostles’ Creed.
Originally from Australia, Tim came to know Christ as a child, before maturing...
Although Alex grew up attending church, he only understood and believed...
Originally from Petaling Jaya, Zech came to faith as a teenager. He believes that God alone is man’s highest good and Jesus’ work...
Chris' faith began in pre-university, turning from self-reliance into an understanding of God's great gift of salvation...
Our contributions are a token of our heartfelt gratitude to God for His unspeakable gift, Jesus Christ, and for His grace and provision in our lives. It is our joyful responsibility as His children to give generously and cheerfully to the advancement of His Kingdom, enabling others to hear the Gospel and to find salvation in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
