This Christmas through our sermon series, we rediscover the wonder of God’s generosity in Christ. As we exchange gifts to show love, we are reminded that the greatest gifts come not from us but from God Himself. In sending His Son, God has given us treasures beyond measure - peace, hope, joy, grace, and love - gifts we could never earn but which He freely gives through Jesus Christ. And in the first sermon of this new series, we heard from Luke 2:1-20 about the foundation of these gifts: God’s gift of a Savior King. All the blessings we receive and enjoy ultimately flow from the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ Himself. As a descendant of David, Jesus is the Christ - God’s promised King who will rule forever. His humble birth also anticipates the purpose of His mission: not to be served, but to lay down His life for others as Savior. As we celebrate Christmas this year, let us reflect on the greatest gift God has given us. Let us receive the gracious gift of Jesus Christ by putting our trust in Him, giving thanks with great joy, and sharing this gift with others.
